Fundraising
Our fundraising efforts are varied and many. It is through these funds that the Center is able to feed more of the homebound elderly and disabled in our community as well as furnish many needed items for the Center itself.
We have a gift shop known as Treasures Under Glass. Crafters help create many beautiful items for sale at the Gift Shop. The proceeds from the gift shop help support Meals on Wheels. Many Meals on Wheels patrons participate in this program when they feel that they don’t have the monetary means to pay for the meals they enjoy. The materials for the projects they complete are provided at no cost—they donate their time and talents. Others simply volunteer their talents for the joy it brings them—some because they know of the importance Meals on Wheels was to a loved one. There are many quality items for sale throughout the year.
The gift shop also sells Aunty’s™ Jams. This product proudly displays a trademark. Jams include Apricot Pineapple, Peach, and Rosey Peach (raspberries and peaches). It is available by the jar or in jam baskets.
Cookbooks published by the Center are a top seller at the Center. Our latest book is Until We Eat Again, third in a series. The titles began with a senior’s comment, “Let’s Eat.”
Twice a year the SPIKE club hosts a rummage sale. These funds are used to purchase items such as the round tables and new chairs used at lunch. They also oversee the very successful newspaper recycling project. |
