Community Oriented Policing Survey

COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING

The Brigham City Police Department conducted a Community Oriented Policing Survey to determine how Brigham City residents felt about safety and nuisance activities in their neighborhoods, what problems they would want solved first in their neighborhood, and how satisfied they are with the services provided by the Brigham City Police Department.

Surveys were mailed randomly to residences in Brigham City. Those surveys that were returned reflected distinctly several areas needing attention and/or improvement.  When asked to identify primary concerns regarding nuisance activities in their immediate neighborhood, 67 percent of respondents listed traffic as their primary concern.  Twenty-nine (29) percent of respondents indicated that traffic was the number one problem they would want solved first in their neighborhood.

In summary, 65 percent of respondents indicated that they felt "safe" walking in their neighborhood after dark and 18 percent felt "very safe." As to how satisfied they are with the services provided by the Brigham City Police Department, 49 percent of respondents answered "satisfied" and 34 percent answered "very satisfied."

The survey also provided an area for individuals to respond if they were interested in becoming involved in a number of community partnership programs, including Neighborhood Watch, Block Captain, Citizen Police Academy, Civilian Volunteer, and VIPS.  Because crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility, we encourage all citizens to become vested in their community.

We welcome your comments and concerns. Please feel free to download and complete our Community Oriented Policing Survey.
