The hiring process is as follows:

Job openings are facilitated through the local Department of Workforce Services, Attn: Craig Stewart.

Brigham City Corporation determines they have a vacancy. The announcement for the job opening is given to the Department of Workforce Services. The announcement shall specify the title and beginning salary of the position for which the examination is announced; the nature of the work to be performed; the experience and training required; the time, place and manner of making application; the necessary special qualifications established for admission to the examination; and any other pertinent information. The Department of Workforce Services posts the job; the announcements are also posted at City Hall. Announcements shall be posted for a minimum of five (5) working days, unless a longer announcement period is required to attract a sufficient number of applicants for the position at any time, but notice of this action shall be posted at least five (5) days prior to the effective date of the action.

Application forms shall be available at the Department of Workforce Services and are available to all interested persons upon request in person or in writing. All applications must be made upon approved City application forms, unless waived by the Mayor or designee, and must be submitted within the time period specified in the announcement back to the Department of Workforce Services. Job openings close at 5:00 p.m. on the date of closing and are then forwarded to Brigham City Corporation's Mayor's Office for processing.

Qualified applicants shall be notified of the date, time, and place of the interview/examination.

Brigham City Corporation does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability in employment or the provision of services.

Accommodation shall be made to disabled individuals eligible for consideration for the position in question if their disability makes it unduly difficult for them to take the examination. In such cases, the Mayor or their designee shall determine and administer an alternate form of examination that is accessible to the disabled individual.

Pre-employment requirements are as follows:

  1. The applicant must have a valid Utah State drivers license or other state-approved identity verification.
  2. The applicant is required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen.
  3. Applicants who apply for positions associated with the McGruff Truck Program shall be required to submit to a mandatory criminal history check.
  4. Conformance to Utah State law on nepotism
  5. Approval by the City Council
