The Citizen Corps mission is accomplished through a national network of state, local, and tribal Citizen Corps Councils. These Councils build on community strengths to implement the Citizen Corps programs and will carry out a local strategy to have every American participate.
Currently there are: 55 State/Territory Citizen Corps Councils And there are: 1,798 County/Local/Tribal Citizen Corps Councils.Which serve 196,677,003 people or 68 % of the total US population
Brigham City Citizen Corps Council
Brigham City Citizen Corps Council was organized in 2004, and has become an umbrella for the following organizations. Fire Department, Ambulance Department, Police Department, VIPS ( Volunteers in Police Service) overseeing Neighborhood Watch, Citizens Patrol, and McGruff, CERT ( Community Emergency Response Team) which gives classes twice a year to educate and organize teams in our neighborhoods to help in time of a disaster, either manmade or natural, Medical Reserve Corps, and Fire Corps, Neighborhood Pride, and others who will benefit from the grants and contributions to Citizen Corps.

These people serve without compensation and devote many hours of volunteer service to the community. Please volunteer and join with them in making our community a service-oriented one, as well as being informed and prepared for any situation.
Ordinance No. 04-15 established the Citizen Corps Council.
The establishment of a Citizen Corps Council for Brigham City will promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Brigham City and would be beneficial to Brigham City and its residents. Terms of office are for three (3) years and will be staggered to ensure continuity of the Citizen Corps. Members are appointed by the Mayor with advice and consent of the City Council. |
