Mayor Lou Ann Christensen

Lou Ann is serving in her second term as Mayor of Brigham City. Her term as Mayor began in January 2002 and she served as a City Council member six years previously. "I am committed to proactively addressing issues facing Brigham City such as strengthening our quality of life through an economically vital, fiscally responsible and culturally enhanced action plan. I believe that working together, we are addressing the challenges facing our families and community’s future and we are finding success."

Lou Ann has served on numerous local, regional and state boards including Envision Utah, Economic Development Corporation of Utah, UTOPIA, Utah League of Cities and Towns Legislative Policy Committee, Bear River Association of Government Governing Board and Investment Strategy Council, State CDBG Policy Committee, Box Elder County Telecommunications Partners, Box Elder Education Center Advisory Board, Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund Board, and others.

She has been a community activist and was the first person to receive the "Woman in Action" award sponsored by the YWCA of Box Elder County. She was honored to receive the Mattie Wattis Harris Award, "Woman in Politics, " Spirit of the American Woman in 2003. She founded the Brigham City Youth Commission, which has as its mission the charge of strengthening families. She received a BA from Brigham Young University in Communications. She has worked for Hercules Aerospace and Morton Thiokol in industrial training.

She enjoys photography and family activities and is actively involved in her church. She is married to Dr. John C. Christensen and is the mother of six children and has four grandchildren.

"It is a great honor for me to be Mayor of Brigham City. Learning about the challenges facing our city over the past decade has been very educational. I believe the challenges we tackle will unveil great opportunities just waiting to be discovered. I look forward everyday to working with our dedicated city staff, city council, and the great people of Brigham City in finding solutions to our challenges. I thank the citizens of Brigham City for this opportunity."
